Front windshield: A tint strip applied along the top edge of the windshield, reaching down to either the top of the wiper path or the upper 10% of the windshield—whichever is lower.
Front Sides: 35% VLT (visible light transmitted)
Rear: 20% VLT (visible light transmitted)
Window tint darker than these limits can result in fines or vehicle defect notices.
Note: A measuring inaccuracy allowance of 5% for equipment may be acceptable for specified light transmittance factor. For example, it is acceptable to measure a light transmittance factor as low as 30% for the driver side window. See – Queensland Light Vehicle Inspection Manual – November 2023.
ncorrect removal can damage your glass or demister, leaving you with repair costs that equal—or exceed—professional removal, which is faster and cleaner.
Privacy glass doesn’t offer the heat and UV protection that window film does. We can use a clear film that will improve heat and UV protection while still remaining within legal VLT limits.
“IR” stands for infrared – the part of sunlight that carries much of the radiant heat you feel through glass. Some films advertise an “IR rejection” figure, but that number is measured only over a specific infrared wavelength range (and different brands may use different ranges). It doesn’t represent the total amount of heat entering a room or car. The best way to understand a film’s real-world performance is to look at its Total Solar Energy Rejected (TSER) value, which accounts for infrared, visible light and ultraviolet together.
